Here In the Shadows

Here in the shadows... longing for the sunlight on my face knowing that if I am to feel its warmth I must face my truth and come forth from the darkness into the light

Long ago, you released me to a world you didn't know. Was good-bye bitter-sweet? How did it feel to let me go? Did you feel the slightest twinge of pain or did I simply wash away with the falling of the rain?

Have you held a special place for me somewhere inside your heart? Are there ever times, even now and then, when you wish we didn't part?

Have you ever tried to reach for me in times of joy or pain? In a fleeting thought, perhaps, or a sentimental dream?

I've tried to deny this shadow and yet it still remains. Each time I gaze into the mirror you stare back at me again.
